The World's Best Driving Road In A McLaren P1! 20 Nov 2021
This week I’m taking on one of my favourite driving roads in the world, in one of my favourite cars ever made. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d be taking a McLaren P1 up Jebel Jais on such a gorgeous day. It really is unbelievable!
Starting our adventure on the 75th floor of the SLS Dubai, we are off to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UAE, followed by taking 50 cars to the highest point in the region. Out on the road we’re fully surrounded by a convoy of hyper cars and the local police, and I feel so pumped to be able to share this with all of you.
Arriving at the base of the mountain range in Ras Al Khaimah, otherwise known as RAK, and all of my memories are coming flooding back of when I first discovered this road and worked alongside the RAK tourist board to showcase it as a real destination in the region. If you can imagine a three-lane alpine pass, with beautiful tarmac and incredible sculpted driving roads, that’s what we’re about to experience all over again.
I know they say a picture paints a thousand words, but at 30 frames a second, I’m hoping we can give you enough of an insight to just how epic this situation is. Blue skies and glorious rugged mountain scenes on every side, taking on this road in a McLaren P1 is absolutely spectacular.
Reaching the top of the mountain, I think it’s safe to say we’ve both physically and metaphorically peaked. Being able to experience all of this, especially following lockdown and a restricted year of travel, feels incredibly special.
We’re only on day four of our visit to the UAE, with still so much more to come.
Where could this possibly go next?
