Honoured To Launch Aston's VALHALLA! 18 Jul 2021
A huge day in the calendar, I was absolutely honoured earlier this year to launch the Aston Martin Valhalla at Silverstone.
The venue itself was tastefully decked out, complete with driving simulator, which actually featured the logo originally intended for the Valkyrie. You can spec the simulator to mimic your real car, and amazingly, is built around a completely carbon fibre tub.
Back to the Valhalla though, I was gearing up to welcome the guests and take to the stage with Lawrence Stroll and Tobias Moers, CEO of Aston Martin for the big reveal. The headline feature of the Valhalla, and a tall order, is the fact that they’re aiming for a 6 minutes and 30 seconds lap time with this car. To put this into context, the current production car record is held by the Porsche GT2 RS MR, at 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
So, how are Aston Martin hoping to achieve these colossal gains? Well, with 937hp, that should help propel the car to top speeds of 217mph. When this launched at Geneva it was intended as a V6, but that was quickly revised to V8. The 600kg downforce packs a punch, and amazingly, the vast amount of downforce happens to the underside. Aerodynamics are key here, as we can see, the carbon fibre side sill sculpture is sure to shave those vital seconds off.
The day has been a complete whirlwind, with media in the morning, and VIP clients and prospects in the afternoon. Finally, it was time for the grand unveiling, and I couldn’t have been prouder to present such a dynamic hyper car. Onto the reception, it was time to soak up the atmosphere of the whole event. There’s sure to be more upcoming content on the Valhalla, so make sure you crack open the manual to read all about it.
