THIS IS VALKYRIE! First Experience In Aston Martin V12 Hypercar! 20 Jul 2021
We’re at the Good Wood Festival of Speed Hill Climb for the first look at the new Aston Martin Valkyrie. The full development story of this prototype vehicle is fascinating, and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
The directly descended F1 features are stand-out components of this model. It packs an astounding 1160hp and a naturally aspirated V12 engine developed by none other than Cosworth. Interestingly, the car started out as a development programme with Adrian Newey of Red Bull Racing. Although it’s a road car too, it’s strikingly reminiscent of F1 aerodynamics and engineering.
I was ecstatic to jump in for a test drive with one of Aston Martin’s development drivers, Darren Turner. We had a rapid few laps around the super car paddock and Darren debriefed me on the overall handling of the Valkyrie. Unsurprisingly, the formation of the road car seats rather than the typical moulded seats have a huge impact on lateral G-force! There was absolutely no compromise in terms of performance though, it’s hard to believe it really is a road car.
It provides an assured, confident drive and I was left truly speechless at this Valkyrie’s versatility. The naturally aspirated, Cosworth-developed V12 engine was the jewel in the crown. We’re going to bring you along for an immersive drive in the Valkyrie in the near future. There’s so much more to explore in this hard-core vehicle, so stay tuned for the next chapter.
