Highest Spec McLaren MSO Senna Joins The Garage! 24 Aug 2021
This week I took in my first ever hyper car to The Garage, and I can’t believe it’s really happening! Combining nearly 800hp of ultra high-spec MSO goodness with 800kg of downforce the Senna is the ultimate incarnation of a McLaren road car.
The McLaren MSO Senna is a ridiculous sculpture; the fully exposed carbon fibre, green tinted body is a beautiful sight to behold. It’s design is incredibly rare, as only 500 Senna’s were made, and only a handful have the carbon fibre finish.
Considering that this car is probably the last non-hybrid McLaren ever, the whole thing is about being light weight. At 1350kg, the power to weight ratio of this is diaphragm bending and smile inducing every time.
And we have to acknowledge the colossal wing at the back of the car, which generates a massive contribution to the downforce and also acts as a brake. The innovation in the wing is something you can’t actually see; it’s capable of standing up to 100x its own weight.
The inside spec is just as glorious as the outside, as the green theme continues from the outside into the inner mystical cave of wonder. From the 3.3kg ultra-light seats to the beautifully considered yellow and green details on gear selectors, the attention to detail and light weight features are perfection.
This car is really important, because I can’t think of another right hand drive hyper car that’s under £2 million, which offers the performance, usability and value of this car.
Watch this space, as I want to use this beauty of a car as it was originally intended, so we will likely soon be hitting up Europe in it, putting it through its paces and driving it as hard as we possibly can.
