Welcome back to Porsche Perth for another special story. This one has been long fought, with the initial spec being knocked back three times. Finally, though, thanks to Ally at Porsche, we got this one over the line, and wow – was it worth the wait!

My Porsche 911 GT3 (992) in Signal Yellow is finally here. The yellow is far deeper than the standard Porsche option, longer waiting times, but higher reward. The matrix LED headlights are self-levelling and turn with the wheel due to our upgraded spec selection.

One of the most fundamental design characteristics of this car is the contrasting colour elements. The carbon ceramic brakes are specifically developed for the new GT3, and save 17.7kg over the standard steel brakes; the unsprung mass advantage is absolutely outstanding as a result. It’s primarily going to be a track car, so this is an imperative element.

Classically for Porsche, we have 500hp. The engine is a naturally aspirated, flat six 4L engine. For use on track, we have the twin clutch gearbox. Revised rear wheel steering, so for high speeds the rear wheels create a longer wheelbase, meaning stability at higher speeds. Crucially, the double wishbone suspension allows optimal road surface handling, and is pretty unique to Porsche, which you can read more about on our first drive blog [hyperlink].

With an enormous 9000rpm and a naturally aspirated flat 6, this is the first time that a visible diffuser has been installed on a GT3, drawing your eye to the iconic twin pipe exhaust. With an exclusive look at the underside of the car on my New Car Day video, the evolution of the GT3 platform includes a completely flat floor, and you can see just how expansive the diffuser is. Ducts channel air into intakes which feeds the brakes with cooling, proving that the unseen details are just as stunning as its unique exterior.

In terms of the interior, the pitch angle of the backrest is completely fixed, with phenomenal ergonomics and carbon fibre for the most lightweight drive possible. Of course, the roll cage in the rear quarter of the car to attach our harnesses for track use. The exposed carbon fibre detailing contrast beautifully with the yellow stitching. Aesthetically, it screams classic Porsche design, I simply cannot wait to take it for a spin.
